2009 State Constitutional Amendment Election

Organization

The Supporters of Tax Appraisal Reform (STAR PAC) has been created as a Specific Purpose PAC (SPAC) under Texas election law. An SPAC can receive contributions without limits from any individual or organization – including corporations. Contributions are not considered charitable donations and are not tax deductible. All contributions and expenditures received or made by the PAC must be publicly reported in accordance with state law.

The Statewide Co-Chairs of STAR PAC will be the legislative co-authors of the Property Tax Appraisal Reform Constitutional Amendments, Texas State Senator Tommy Williams and State Representative John Otto. Senator Williams will also serve as the PAC Treasurer.

Both state legislators are CPAs who chaired their respective State Senate and State House Chamber’s recent interim committees on Property Tax Appraisal Reform. Their interim committees held hearings across Texas, and from the homeowner and property owner input, the legislature developed the three property tax appraisal reform constitutional amendment propositions now before the voters in the upcoming 2009 November Constitutional Amendment elections.
